A Word of Caution, from Steven Retz (on SeekingYHWH) and Benjamin Sickles.

Update: It grieves me to have write this, but the commandments of YHWH must be fulfilled.

Regarding Dustin Smith’s supposedly being raised from the dead by the prophet Joseph Smith, who is long dead. There is a claim that Dustin Smith died during the first day of Tabernacles in the evening of Sep 28th, and supposedly YHWH Elohim told the leaders with Dustin Smith’s group that there is significance for Dustin Smith dying on the first day of Tabernacles and being raised from the dead the last day of Tabernacles. To start off with, all the days of the moon start at sunrise as the Book of Mormon and Bible teaches, see On the Morrow / Morning for how the Book of Mormon teaches this and Morning for how the Tanakh / Old Testament and New Testament teaches this also. Considering how the BoM and Bible teach the day of the moon starts at sunrise and not sunset, that would mean Dustin Smith’s supposed death did not happen on the first day of Tabernacles. In addition to help support this teaching that the day of the moon starts at sunrise, if you believe that Joseph Smith received the gold plates on Feast of Trumpets you cannot believe that the day of the moon starts at sunset. It also means the new moon day happens after the dark conjunction of the moon not the first sighted sliver of the moon. Please see Scripture Study 2022-09-26 where I go over the math that supports this. Since Dustin Smith died before the first day of Tabernacles this is in conflict with the supposed revelations that the leaders of this group supposedly received from YHWH Elohim. Another problem with this supposed revelations regarding Tabernacles is that traditionally the 8th day is considered part of Tabernacles but scripturally it is not. The 8th day is the 22nd of the moon which is a lunar sabbath, which is why the scriptures talk of it as a sabbath, see Calendar for more on YHWH Elohim’s calendar. Now, we have no problem with the tradition of including the 8th day, which is symbolic of eternity, with Tabernacles. Our issue here is the claim of the supposed revelations from YHWH Elohim calling Oct 6th, the 8th day, as part of Tabernacles. YHWH Elohim would not do that because He knows His appointed times [Hebrew: moed] perfectly, and He would not contradict His own word such that we can have faith in Him and His words unto salvation see Lectures on Faith and Ether 3-4.

People have been raised from the dead before and we have multiple scriptural accounts of this in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. In every account of this happening there have been three things in place. The first one is the biggest. It has to be in the mind and will of YHWH and for HIS glory. Without this it will not occur. When it is in the mind and will of YHWH, YHWH will send a mortal man to do it who He has given the Melchizedek priesthood to with His OWN VOICE, see Priesthood, which includes the sealing power, see Sealing Power. If the servant has not been given power over the elements he cannot bring the spirit and body back together using YHWH’s power. Third this servant must be cleansed from all sins through Yeshua’s atonement, see 3 Nephi (LDS 8:1) (RLDS 4:1-2) and D&C (LDS 50:28-29) (RLDS 50) (1833 53) (1835 17) (1844 17). Otherwise YHWH’s servant can do no miracles. We would like to bring out that in every example of people being raised from the dead, it was performed by a mortal servant of YHWH Elohim.

The followers of Christ group, Dustin Smith’s group, teaches multiple mortal probations which is another way of saying reincarnation while trying to separate it from the negative stigma that is properly attached to reincarnation. Both the Book of Mormon and the Bible teach against reincarnation or in other words multiple mortal probations, see Letter Regarding Reincarnation. We each have one life to live and one mission to accomplish. That mission is to keep YHWH Elohim’s commands aka Torah and help others to do the same (see Jacob (LDS 2:21) (RLDS 2:26-28), Ecclesiastes 12:13, 2 Nephi (LDS 26:27) (RLDS 11:102-103), Abraham 3:25, Alma (LDS 34:32) (RLDS 16:228)).

Many of the testimonials surrounding raising Dustin Smith from the dead are dependent upon contact with the supposed deceased Dustin Smith. Contacting the dead is necromancy and is witchcraft. It is expressly forbidden in YHWH’s instructions aka Torah (see Leviticus 19:31, Leviticus 20:6, Leviticus 20:27, Deuteronomy 18:9-12, Isaiah 8:19, Isaiah 19:3, 2 Kings 21:6, 1 Timothy 4:1, 1 Chronicles:10:13, Acts 16). Necromancy is one way Satan deceives people using emotions because it is generally supposedly someone they knew in the past and had close connections to. The reason YHWH Elohim commands us not to do this in His Torah is because YHWH knows it is not the deceased that is communicating with you, it is daemons. We do understand that the history of Saul seems to indicate that Samuel was brought up by a medium but 1 Chronicles 10:13 lets us know that is not the case.

What makes necromancy so deceptive is the heightened emotional state that is triggered by supposedly being in contact with someone who they were close with. This is called emotional manipulation and elevation. Which is what the LDS / Brighamite church’s HeartSell is based upon, see Anthony E Larson and The Holy Spirit and The Holy Ghost are the Same. Emotion Elevation is the reason behind the emphasis on singing loud praises to YHWH Elohim in contemporary Christianity such as the band Hillsong. This is why Dustin Smith’s group is putting a big push on everyone “praising” in a particular way. The reason this tactic is employed is to cause the chemical reaction that gets you to feel happy, just like drugs do. This then gets you to attach happy thoughts and feelings to what they are deceiving you with. Those who use this technique do so to leverage control over you which you willingly give them because of the happy feelings they helped you get.

We are reminded about the king-men in the Book of Mormon in that we see how the king-men want power and authority over their fellow men, see Alma (LDS 51:8) (RLDS 23:9), instead of simply serving others as taught in the scriptures (see Mark 9:35, 1 Peter 4:10, Mosiah (LDS 2:14-17) (RLDS 1:46-49)). We also see a correlation with their modified teachings, which leads to law, being changed and how the king-men did the same thing, see Alma (LDS 51:5) (RLDS 23:5).

One way Satan gets power over us is by holding our sins against us, and the leaders of Satan do the same thing. You might be wondering how do mortal men achieve this. It’s simple really. You told them your sins because they tricked you into thinking you needed to confess your sins to them to receive YHWH’s forgiveness, which is not the case, see Bishops are JUDGEs of Israel. Another way they know of your sins is that they get you to commit them in the first place. We are only commanded to confess our sins to YHWH Elohim and to those who we committed the sin against. In addition if one has truly repented of their sins they would not be worried if others found out because those with a repentant heart will confess, although we do not need to tell others about them but because of Yeshua’s atonement and our repentance there is no shame left in us for the wicked ones to try to control us with. In the scriptures, including the D&C and the Book of Mormon (see D&C (LDS 20:37) (RLDS 17) (1833 24) (1835 2) (1844 2), Moroni (LDS 6:2) (RLDS 6:2)), there are phrases along the lines of confessing to the church. It is important we address this. First we want to bring out how it states confess to the church and NOT THE LEADERS. The church is the general membership NOT just the leaders. In fact if you think the church is the LEADERS how are you part of the church when you are not a leader? If you think otherwise you need to WAKE UP! Although YHWH Elohim does call leaders and teachers in His church, the church is the whole body not just the head, see 1 Corinthians 12:21-26. Not to mention we all are to serve each other. Confessing to the brother or sister you have wronged is confessing to the church. Not to mention when appropriate we can share in general, not details, our past imperfections to help others to be wiser than we had been in the past, see Mormon (LDS 9:31) (RLDS 4:97). When we have repented YHWH Elohim will not bring up our sins, contrary to what servants of Satan do to control you. This is only possible because of Yeshua’s atonement that can cleanse us if we allow it. This exact principle is taught in D&C (LDS 42:88) (RLDS 42) (1833 44,47) (1835 13) (1844 13). When this fails, only then does it escalate to needing to bring in the judges from the church as per D&C (LDS 42:89) (RLDS 42) (1833 44,47) (1835 13) (1844 13). We also need to remember that judgements that the elders of the church do are public and not private patterned from how YHWH Elohim’s final judgements are at the gate where all will know and agree with the judgements. Also in the Tanakh / Old Testament judgements were held at the gate which is a public gathering place for the city. One thing Steven talks about in Bishops are JUDGEs of Israel is how Alma the younger, who was a vile sinner at this point, was forgiven not by a mortal leader but by YHWH Elohim Himself while Alma was in a comma. Alma’s confessing to the church was not to his local bishop but to those who he had wronged when he had sinned as demonstrated by Alma doing it multiple times in multiple locations.

It is very important when we inquire for a miracle from YHWH that in are in a state of belief and trust not just desiring. Belief and trust is express by being doers of the word and not hearers only, see Matthew 7:21-23. Our belief and faith is not demonstrated in fantastic mystical spiritual experiences. Instead Yeshua told us to endure to the end which is simply being steady in following Yeshua’s footsteps by doing what He did while in mortality otherwise how could it be in His footsteps.

Below here is our summary and thoughts from Dustin Smith’s group zoom conference where they were boldly claiming these deceptions, while expressing incorrect emotions. Acceptance of Yeshua’s authority and obedience to His law aka Torah is what brings forth the blessings of Heaven. You will see below what caused us to write our word of caution.

I know the paramedics were there with Dustin Smith. Mele got to where Dustin Smith supposedly died, right when the paramedics were coming out of the room. Told Dustin Smith’s wife that they are sorry for your loss [stating that Dustin Smith died]. Stayed the night with Dustin Smith’s kids and his wife.

Mele “felt” Dustin Smith’s presence next to me [necromancy / witchcraft], and she “heard” Dustin Smith say Joseph Smith [prophet of the restoration who is long dead] is back. Mele is stating that Dustin Smith has regular discussions with Joseph Smith [prophet of the restoration]. [Dustin Grady is stone cold while his wife to going on how this is such a miracle that is coming.]
